"Time to Waste"
This work was created as an artistic experiment of being pushed out of a comfort zone. A departure of one choreographic mind, to another. A new trajectory to experiment with when it comes to stylistic ideas. With this in mind, when composing the work, there was no story involved creating the choreography, there were several ideas and intentions. This created a set of words that were used to create the piece. The work has several moments of power, confidence, and sass, but the intentions behind the music give the work a smooth, sleek, and groovy feel to it. The intentionality behind having these two worlds combine was to have the audience visualize the groovy feel of the music, while the dancers are in a separate world, performing with confidence and sass. There is an idea that both dancers and audience members will collide, and the dancers can feel the groove the audience feels, while the audience simultaneously can be understanding of the attitude behind the work.
